Privacy Policy

Cabin is an iPhone application developed and published by POLEN WORKS, UNIPESSOAL LDA, a company registered in Portugal (the “data controller” for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, where applicable). You can reach us at hello@polenworks.com.

None. Cabin does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to us or to anyone else. There are no user accounts, no sign-in, no usage analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no crash or telemetry reporting built into the app.

Everything you type, every reply a model writes, and any photo you show a model is processed on your iPhone and stored only on your iPhone, inside the app’s private storage. Photos you attach are resized and saved without their metadata, so details such as location are removed. Your settings, including any instructions you give for how models should talk, are stored on your device too.

You are in control of this data. You can delete a single chat, delete all chats from Settings, or have Cabin automatically delete chats older than 7 or 30 days. Deleting a chat also deletes its photos. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.

Like other app data, your chats, photos, and settings may be included in your own iCloud or computer backups of your iPhone, under your Apple account and Apple’s terms. We never have access to those backups. Downloaded models are excluded from backups.

Every model in Cabin runs on your iPhone. The Built-in model is Apple’s on-device Foundation Model, provided by iOS as part of Apple Intelligence; Cabin uses only the on-device model and does not send your conversations to Apple’s servers. Open models from other makers (such as Qwen, Gemma, and Ministral) run locally using Apple’s MLX framework. Neither the model makers nor we receive anything you write.

When you choose to get a model, Cabin downloads its files directly from Hugging Face (huggingface.co and its content delivery network) over an encrypted connection. The app sends no account, token, or identifier with these requests, and it will not connect to any other server. As with any download, Hugging Face can see your device’s IP address, the standard information iOS includes with network requests, and which model files are being downloaded. Hugging Face handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Downloads only happen when you start them, and you can limit them to Wi-Fi in Settings. Once a model is on your iPhone, using it needs no connection at all.

Cabin asks only for what a feature needs, and only when you use that feature:

• Camera: to take a photo to show a model. The photo stays on your iPhone.
• Photos: Cabin uses Apple’s photo picker, which gives the app only the photos you select. It has no access to the rest of your library and never saves to it.
• Notifications: to let you know when a model has finished downloading. These are local notifications created on your device; Cabin does not use push notifications.

Cabin does not use your microphone, location, contacts, calendars, or health data, and it never reads your clipboard. Download progress may appear as a Live Activity, and the Lock Screen widget shows only the name of your default model, never your chats.

If you copy a reply, share a message or transcript, send a draft to Messages, or export your chats, Cabin prepares that content on your device and hands it to the destination you choose. What happens after that is governed by the app or service you share it with. Nothing is shared unless you do it yourself.

Cabin does not embed third-party SDKs that collect data. The open-source libraries it uses (Apple’s MLX and Hugging Face’s Swift Transformers) run locally to load and run models on your device. Links in the app, such as model licenses, open in Safari only when you tap them.

Cabin is a general-purpose app and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children.

Since your conversations never leave your device through Cabin, they are protected by the security of your own iPhone, including iOS data protection encryption. We hold no personal data about you on our servers, so there is nothing for us to lose or expose.

Under the GDPR and similar laws you have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data a company holds about you. Because Cabin collects and stores no personal data on our side, we hold nothing to provide, change, or erase. Your chats live on your iPhone, where you can export or delete them at any time. If we change how Cabin handles data, we will update this page and revise the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.

This policy is published on polenworks.com. The website uses privacy-friendly, cookie-less analytics (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights) to measure aggregate traffic and performance; this is separate from the Cabin app, which contains no analytics.
